Here is a great idea that I learned from my landlord. Don't need to buy a compost bin, instead use your empty milk gallon bottles. Cut a section off the bottle, leaving the handle attached.

This way, you can easily transport the compost bin from your kitchen to your compost heap. If the bottle gets dirty overtime, just recycle it and use another empty milk bottle.
